The Caddie Network (TCN) announced today a multi-platform content and programming partnership with Golf Digest. The new partnership will feature several content and programming features to be shared through a variety of platforms, including digital, social and print.
With more than 150 professional caddies participating, TCN is the first-ever digital content platform dedicated to professional caddies and their “on tour” experiences and insights. Additionally, TCN brings to life the world of caddies at the grassroots and amateur level and the unique personalities that golfers around the world enjoy on a weekly basis.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Golf Digest, the world’s leading golf publication,” said TCN Co-Founder John von Stade.  “This new partnership will not only increase awareness for the profession of caddying but also help bring more golf fans the unique ‘front row’ perspective that only professional Tour caddies can.”

Max Adler, Editorial Director of Golf Digest, said: “There’s no better source for buzz in the game than caddies—they often tell the players the news—and we’re excited about the analysis and storytelling we can deliver working with The Caddie Network.” > https://thegolfwire.com/the-caddie-network-golf-digest-content-partnership/

Scientist DeChambeau first International win in Dubai

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Since my first participation as a delegate to the 1998 World Science Congress of Golf and later as a speaker presenter (2012-2016), I become an active believer/promoter in Golf Science. I could not miss the opportunity to follow sunday Omega Dubai Desert Classic final round to witness not only a great duel between the “Scientist” Bryson DeChambeau and the “defending champion” Li Hao Tong* but as well a fantastic opportunity to see another history making in Dubai.

The opportunity would also let me benchmark/research their performance using the CaddiePlayer & PuttZones metrics. The "duel" Bryson versus Li went quite short as after the second hole only, Li made a poor chip followed by 3 putts as Bryson back to back birdies cruised to a 64 to finish -24 and in his pocket his first International win.

What impressed me the most in Bryson game was not his putting but his SwingScore58, which according the the "4ShotsRule" (Barras-Baradie) would have been made possible a score of 54 matching the "Vision54"  quest from Lynn Marriott and Pia Nilsson.

Bryson DeChambeau speaking after his first International win in Dubai

“The more you can understand the world around you the more prepare you will be”

I was then privilege to be one of the few able to attend DeChambeau press conference and to get more insite of his “Secrets” which many might think its about putting… Actually its not… According to Bryson it all comes to the “DOMINO” effects...

One season ends, another start, 2018 our best “feed us all”

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

1000yearthebook

I am currently in Dubai reading the book “The Year 1000”; a book that describes what life was like in England in the year 1000.

In their exploration of what life was like at the turn of the first millennium, authors Robert Lacey and Danny Danziger refernce the historical document of the “Juluis Work Calendar” produced in a writing studio of Canterbury Cathedral some time around Ad 1020.

1018 thousand year ago, life was regulated by the length of night and day light and had a direct influence on the primary survival objective of the time: the creation and production of food. “The ploughman feed us all” proclaimed a common saying of the time, and the calendar of holly days and festivities served to instill faith toward God and the King: the protectors of the people.

In the year 1000 the forests were farmed like fields. Wood was the fuel of the times. People's main fear was famine and starvation in a time when coins and currency were just getting organized.

Now days the world has become global and the tools of modernization give us the freedom to fly where the skies are always blue and the sun always shines.  At CaddiePlayer, we like to say “The player feed us all” as our moto. 1018 years later we record our best “Tour Work Calendar” thanks to LPGA Celine Herbin, European Tour Raphael Jacquelin, Richard Sterne and Matthieu Pavon (July-August).

For our 2018 record performance book:

·         1 Top 5, 4 top ten

·         4  times club house leader

·         4 major participations, 2 cuts, 1 top25

·         1 best career score card > 62

·         1 albatros, more eagles and countless birdies

·         over 1 million Euro in prize money, but most importantly Celine, Raphael, Richard and Mattieu kept their Tour card privilege to further “feed” 2019…. Thanks to the fuel fly to the sun, 2019 season has allready started….

CaddiePlayer Developer Joins Race to Dubai Final

Francesco Molinari wins the Race to Dubai Championship

Francesco Molinari winner of the Race to Dubai 2018

This week I had the pleasure of joining Stephane Barras the founder of CaddiePlayer in Dubai for the final event of the European Tour. For reference, I am the lead software developer for CaddiePlayer and have worked with Stephane for many years to develop this platform into an advanced system for analyzing and evaluating opportunities for improvement in players' games.

I don't watch a lot of golf, and it's been quite a few years since I hit the links, so it was very insightful for me to spend Thursday following elite golfer Tommy Fleetwood around on Round 1of the Dubai tournament while scoring his play using the CaddiePlayer system. Stephane scored for Francesco Molinari, as the two leading players in the European Tour, faced each other at the "Earth" course at the Jumeirah Estes: the final event of the season to determine the champion.

Following the players around the course, it was interesting to see how skilled they played - even when they would make a bad shot into a sand trap or in the rough, they would recover right away with an amazing shot landing right next to the hole. At one point, Molinari flubbed a chip from the edge of the green, but followed it up with a chip shot that rolled right into the cup, saving par. Given how consistently they played, I was very surprized to do add up Tommy's score at the end of the first 9 holes to see that he was only 1 shot below par. Molinari was playing better than Tommy, but a few mental errors on short putts at holes 7 and 9 cost him at least 2 strokes that he'd fought so hard to earn through his amazing play in the first 6 holes.

As I entered the scoring data into our paper printout of the CaddiePlayer scoresheets, I got a firsthand experience of how difficult it can be to keep up with a player's progress throughout the full 18 holes of a course. There are lot of distractions, it's hot outside, and it can be difficult to calculate the exact distance from the hole. But once I got the hang of things, it became easier to anticipate where I needed to position myself to accurately record the important data.

At the end of the round, we were a bit tired, but learned a lot about how we can make some improvements to the system, and I really enjoyed seeing my first professional golf tournament. Tommy and Francesco were amazing to watch, and after the round, Tommy was nice enough to sign my CaddiePlayer scoresheet!

The next day, Stephane and I sat down and entered the data into the CaddiePlayer system, where we identified a few additional improvements we will implement, and I now have a much better idea of how to make the platform easier and more convenient for Stephane and the other esteemed members of the CaddiePlayer community.

At the end, the masters 2017 Danny Willet won the tournament, but it was Molinari who captured the Race to Dubai Championship. We had a great time following the golf and seeing the pros playing at the top level of the sport. Stephane may have procured a new client, and we'll be introducing some helpful changes to the CaddiePlayer system over the next few weeks.

Cheers,

Matt Hammond - Lead Developer for CaddiePlayer.com
