Who will be next Adam Scott's caddie?
Over 100 caddies have inquired about carrying Adam Scott's bag
Adam Scott has been contacted by about 100 caddies offering their services – including some who are currently employed by successful players – but the world No 2 is in no hurry to appoint a replacement for Steve Williams.
Scott’s bag is probably the second most coveted behind world No 1 Rory McIlroy. The job became available when Williams, who previously worked for Tiger Woods, decided he wanted to cut back on the number of tournaments, which did not fit with Scott’s requirements. Scott sounded surprised that some of the caddies wanting to work for him are in work, but that only speaks volumes for the coveted nature of the job.
“I’ve had some really cracking offers come through, which makes you wonder.”
Scott says he is seeking someone whose personality he gels with and who has the knack of giving good advice under pressure.
“I’m testing personalities. That’s why I need a little more time to make a good decision,” he said. “You can be the best player and do all the right things, but there is only one person who can influence you on the golf course and that is the caddie.”
Scott is the highest-ranked player in the WGC-HSBC field in the absence of McIlroy, who has pulled out to focus on his legal battle with his previous management company.

Chinese Golf Flourishing at Shankai Classic
ChongQing - China - October 19th 2014
After 36 holes of the Shankai Classic there were reasons to be cheerful for Chinese golf fans everywhere as native professionals and amateurs alike showed what they are made of at Chongqing Poly Golf Club.
Hu Mu led the home charge through two rounds, carding scores of 70 and 68 to enter the final day in a tie for fifth some four shots adrift of the leader Antonio Hortal at ten under par, during a week in which 11 players from China survived the 18 hole cut after low visibility disrupted the first two days. One of the aims of the European Challenge Tour has always been to use its events to encourage the development of golf wherever it visits, and thanks to its relationship with the China Golf Association in staging tournaments such as this, that is something which is sure to continue.
It remains to be seen how Hu will perform in the final round, but the 25 year old was delighted to be in contention for a maiden title on the second tier, as he looks to build on the talent that had previously seen him heralded as a word beater when still in his teens. Alongside Chen heading into the final round was Zhou Guo-wu, who was the second highest ranked Chinese professional in the field heading into Sunday.
Rongjian Tang 17 years of age was another member of the unpaid ranks to have made the 18 hole cut alongside Chen in Chongqing, and he is benefitting from the unique approach of Swiss coach Stephane Barras, who is working with a number of players in China using his CaddiePlayer system.
Barras – who hails from Crans Montana, home of the Omega European Masters – is here this week scouting talent for the promoter Shankai in order to ensure golf in China continues to progress at pace.

Nanshan-China, October 12-2014
China’s Li Hao-tong became the youngest winner on OneAsia today when the 19-year-old claimed the US$1 million Nanshan China Masters. He triumphed by four strokes after shooting a final round one-under-par 70 at Nanshan International Golf Club in extreme wind. Australian Lee Jun Seok fired a 69 to claim sole possession of second place, while Todd Baek from Korea ended two shots further adrift in third position after posting a 74.
It has been a remarkable run for Li as he also won the Henan Open on the PGA TOUR China Series two weeks ago by eight strokes. The previous youngest winner had been Korean Kim Bi-o when claimed this very same event in 2011 aged 20. “I think I am too young to win a Masters event,” joked Li, who finished the tournament on nine under and US$180,000 richer. “I could not stand sometimes when I was putting as the wind was so strong. I never played in wind like this.”
With the wind gusting up to 40mph on some parts of the course, Li held his game together admirably.
After making the turn he stumbled somewhat with a bogey on the 11th and a double bogey on the 12th that saw his lead cut to one. However, he showed his star qualities by making birdie on three of the last four holes. “I scored 100 points on those last few holes,” said Li. The rising star was one off the lead after the first round but led after the second and third days.
